Our curriculum sets out exactly what is to be learnt for each child in each year of study. However, there is always a small degree of curriculum flexibility. The school is also very responsive to key events; such as times of celebration, times of news influence, charity and fund raising and times of national or international significance.
Every year we also carefully plan exceptional days e.g. Mental Health Day, World Book Day, Safer Internet Day and Science events, where we have access to guest speakers. This can sometimes mean the curriculum is slightly changed in overall coverage e.g. some lessons may be rescheduled or new content is trialled.
Whilst we are very strict about what pupils learn, we also know that having this small degree of flexibility and creativity, agreed with the senior leadership team, promotes innovation and scope to be truly reflective teachers and personalise learning.
