Throughout KS2, the children are taught conversational French and all about the French culture. The French curriculum is taught using the interactive scheme: EuroStars. It is delivered to pupils every week.
During Year 3, children learn basic language like colours and numbers as well as introductions. This unit is essential in ensuring progression throughout KS2. In Year 4, children are introduced to more varied vocabulary and sentence structures. They are taught about familiar contexts such as playtime, home, towns, people, the body and sports.
In Year 5, the children encounter more complex vocabulary and sentence structures. They will learn to use adjectives to add details to their sentences and talk about their hobbies and holidays. Finally in Year 6, children begin to tackle ‘tenses.’ They will talk about what they are doing and what they will be doing.
