Safeguarding: Our Top Priority

Every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and happy at school. That’s why safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do at the Valley. We believe that every child has the right to thrive in a learning environment free from harm.

What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding is the process of protecting children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. It encompasses a range of measures, including:

  • Creating a safe and welcoming environment where children feel comfortable and confident enough to raise any concerns.
  • Providing clear guidelines and policies outlining unacceptable behaviour and procedures for reporting concerns.
  • Training all staff to recognise signs of potential abuse and know how to respond appropriately.
  • Working closely with parents and carers to ensure a consistent approach to safeguarding.
  • Building strong relationships with children so they feel they can trust and talk to us about anything.

Why is safeguarding so important?

Safeguarding is essential for a child’s well-being and development. It helps to:

  • Protect children from harm both at school and in their wider lives.
  • Promote positive mental and emotional health.
  • Empower children to speak up if they are worried or concerned.

What can you do?

We encourage everyone in our school community to play a role in safeguarding. Here are some things you can do:

  • Talk to your child about safeguarding and how to stay safe.
  • Be aware of the signs of abuse and neglect.
  • Report any concerns you may have to our Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Support the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures.

By working together, we can create a safe and happy environment where every child can learn and grow without fear to realise their potential.
